Couples Therapy on Sydney's North Shore

If you're looking for couples therapy on Sydney's North Shore, you've found the right place.

The Embodied Mind Collective is based in North Sydney — just minutes from Crows Nest, Neutral Bay, Mosman, Cremorne, Kirribilli, and across the North Shore. We offer couples therapy that goes beyond conflict resolution, helping couples build relationships rooted in genuine safety, presence, and connection.

Our approach is warm, non-pathologising, and grounded in both modern neuroscience and the intuitive wisdom that lives in the body. We don't believe there's anything wrong with you or your relationship. We believe you're two people doing the best you can with what you've been given — and that with the right support, something genuinely different is possible.

Why Couples on the North Shore Choose Us

North Shore Sydney is home to a vibrant, driven community — and with that often comes the particular kind of relationship stress that comes with busy lives, high expectations, and the pressure to hold everything together.

We work with couples navigating all kinds of challenges:

- The slow drift of disconnection — when you've become more like housemates than partners

- Recurring conflict that never seems to resolve, no matter how many times you have the same conversation

- The aftermath of betrayal — rebuilding trust after an affair or breach of confidence

- The strain of major life transitions — parenthood, career change, loss, relocation

- The desire to build something more — couples who are okay but want to be genuinely extraordinary

Whatever has brought you here, we meet you where you are. Without judgement. With real skill and genuine care.

Our Approach: Somatic Couples Therapy

What makes our work different from many other couples therapists on the North Shore is our somatic approach — our attention to the body as well as the mind.

When couples are in conflict, their nervous systems are often in a state of threat response. The thinking, empathetic part of the brain goes offline. This is why the same argument can happen over and over — because both people are too activated to actually hear each other.

Somatic couples therapy helps you learn to recognise these states in yourself and each other. To find ways to regulate — to come back to a place where real conversation is possible. Over time, this builds a different kind of safety in the relationship: one that's felt in the body, not just agreed to in principle.

This is not just talk therapy. It's therapy that works with the whole of who you are.

Meet Rachel and Bevan Pfeiffer

The Embodied Mind Collective was founded by Rachel and Bevan Pfeiffer — a couple who have walked their own path of relational healing and bring both professional expertise and lived experience to their work.

Rachel is a psychotherapist with deep training in somatic and relational approaches. Bevan brings a background in contemplative practice, somatic work, and his own ongoing journey of growth and healing. Together, they have created a practice that holds both rigour and warmth — a space where real transformation is possible.

Working with a couple who have done this work themselves brings something that's hard to quantify but impossible to miss: they understand from the inside what it takes.

Individual Therapy on the North Shore

Alongside couples therapy, we also offer individual psychotherapy for those doing their own healing work — whether alongside a partner or on their own.

Sometimes the most powerful thing a couple can do is for each person to invest in their own individual growth. When you understand yourself more clearly, you show up differently in the relationship. And when the relationship feels safer, individual healing often accelerates.

We offer individual therapy for adults navigating trauma, anxiety, relationship patterns, and the deep questions of identity and meaning.

Breathwork and Retreats

Beyond the therapy room, The Embodied Mind Collective also offers breathwork sessions and immersive retreats — powerful complements to the therapeutic work, and experiences that many couples describe as genuinely life-changing.

Our retreats bring together psychotherapy, somatic healing, and contemplative practice in a concentrated immersive format — an opportunity to step outside the noise of daily life and do deep work together in a held, beautiful space.
